Description
Amusing Uncle Remus coupe dish done by E.P. Cranch in 1886 picturing Brer Terrapin near a bridge, gazing into a stream. Marks include the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date, shape number 87, G for ginger clay and Cranch’s incised initials. Also incised on the back is the notation Uncle Remus Subjects # 39 and incised on the front Br Tarrypin Loujin roun’en suffern. Diameter is 6 3/8 inches. Minor scratches in the bowl and tiny nick at the ruffled rim.
