French or Canadian Portrait School 18th or 19th Century, Toussaint BÉRAULT de SAINT-MAURICE, Toussaint was Prosecutor at the royal seat of Saint-Louis du Sud around 1760, and settler of a sugar refinery in the Plaine des Cayes, oil on canvas, 27 x 22.5 inches, Provenance: Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of the Hudson River School painter Regis Gignoux.
Condition
in good condition apart from a scratch and compression mark at the lower center right, framed in a Victorian Style portrait frame with an oval opening for the painting measuring 39 x 34 inches.
