This lot consists of a mixed media illustration on paper, executed in the pop art style of Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987). A hand inscription at center reads "Andy Warhol". Image depicts a pig on a roasting platter with a rose in its moutrh, done in the imaginative Pop Art style for which Andy Warhol is so well known. A unique complement to any collection. This unframed piece measures approximately 13" x 9".
Producer, director, printmaker, and painter Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987) was a major contributor to late-20th century art. Warhol's body of work solidified the way we now visualize his generation, its faces, and its mass culture. From Warhol's early beginnings in commercial art, he was very much in tune with popular images and the power of advertising. By the time of his death in 1987, Andy Warhol would become synonymous with the Banana Factory, Studio 54, Campbell's Tomato Soup, and, most succinctly, Pop Art.
