This early model is a PAF pickup version with an all-laminate construction in sunburst finish, which allows for better management of feedback at higher volumes. The PAF humbucker pickups, introduced to the model in February 1957, give the guitar a full, rich tone, prized by jazz guitarists. Despite being marketed as a jazz guitar, the ES-175 has been well-loved in all genres from rock to country and has been enjoyed by many notable musicians including Steve Howe, Pat Metheny, and Joe Pass.Sunburst finish.
