Robert Doisneau (1912 – 1994), was a French photographer. In the 1930s, he memorialized the streets of Paris. He was a champion of humanist photography and with Henri Cartier-Bresson. was a pioneer of photojournalism. Doisneau is renowned for his 1950 image Le baiser de l'hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Town Hall), a photograph of a couple kissing on a busy Parisian street.

Robert Doisneau was a French photographer. Similar to acclaimed photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau was a master of humanist photography and a pioneer of photojournalism. His work displays his enthusiasm for the marvels of daily life, and the unexpected, playful and often ironic moments that comprise it. His candid visions of street life show the influence of figures such as Andre Kertesz, Eugene Atget, and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
