Description
Lovely and elegant two-tone, brown floral carved, California Poppy saddle with matching Bridle, Breast Collar and Corona. Square skirt, 14 1/2" seat. Saddle is fully carved with raised floral tooling accentuated by a contrasting dark background and regal 6" flat, saucer style, silver Mexican horn with a rope edge. The entire ensemble is mounted with exquisite heavy gauge, three-dimensional, sterling silver poppies in graduated sizes from 1 3/4" to 4". Very fine, 100% original condition, c 1930s PROVENANCE: Acquired at auction in Southern California in the 1950s and purportedly made for Mary Miles Minter (April 1, 1902 – August 4, 1984), an American film actress of the silent film era. The name Nandine was engraved on the horn by the last owner.
