Description
A colorful, naturally petrified wood log, Miocene Period, c. 23 million years ago, Eastern Europe. This is a portion of a split log from an unknown species of tree that once lived in the Miocene Period in the Czech Republic. This is an extremely rare and unusual specimen with incredible, natural life-like detail and shades of blue, green, black and gray that delineate the prehistoric wood grain Petrified wood in its natural form, such as this example, is much less prevalent on the market compared to sliced and polished examples. The natural form of this example has allowed the specimen to retain much more detail than is regularly seen in other petrified wood examples. 8 in x 4 in Ex German private collection.
