African American ex-Slave Painting Print of Martha Bunton, painted on 1876 ledger paper in 2019. Gouache painting inspired from a photo taken in 1937 interview by the Federal Writers Project, Ms. Bunton is seen standing free in a field in Austin, Texas. Photographs are in Library of Congress. The artist was deeply moved and inspired by the poignancy of this black and white photo with, whereby creating a beautiful lifelike rendition in color.The surface of the painting is paper originating from a 1876 ledger book. It is lightly coated with white gouache paint allowing the textural handwriting to show through yet not dominate the image.Paper Size: 12 1/2 x 17 1/2 Inches
