Description
Two spindle back railroad benches, one restored, and the other in need of repairs. Each 96 1/2"W x 16"D x 32"H (note - the unrestored bench is 30 1/2"H). The first bench, which originally had a reversible swivel back, has been converted to a stationary bench and is in good stable condition; the second bench has losses to the cast iron support brackets that meet the top splat on the ends and have been repaired with wire (see photos), the long iron rod that would extend through the center of the 3 legs is missing, and the wood plank that extends along the base of the 3 legs to provide additional stabilization is also missing, otherwise the back of the bench still pivots to flip-over so that passengers can sit on either side of the bench depending on the direction of the train. Other than previously stated it is in good condition. Both late 19th century. Sold with a reserve of $200 for the pair.
