After Utagawa Kunisada (Japanese, 1786-1865), pair of woodblock prints, executed in ink and color on paper, depicting scenes from the 1849 series on the kabuki theater, 'The Story of Judge Aoto Fujitsuna,' the first, a court scene with Fujitsuna seated on a dais above a supplicant, the second depicting a scribe seated on a dais holding a quill while an elaborately dressed lady sits below, with seals and signatures, 13.75"h x 9.5"w; overall with frames 22"h x 17.75"w. Aoto Fujitsuna was a councilor to the Kamakura Shogonate (1192-1333).
