Description
Rare / unusual 18th to early 19th century hearth hand-forged cooking tools / utensils - long spit with 4-positions when turned, twisted rattail handle, 31" L; flesh fork with 2 flat and one projected-out prong; 21" L; hand-hammered design on twisted stem spit with circle hanger, 25" L; tongs with bulging curved ends, half-hollowed handles, 26" L. No issues noted other than moderate wear consistent with age and normal use - possibly small breaks / losses that we didn't find, see photo close-ups.
Condition
From a mid-west estate consigned by a third party, we are selling a fabulous, long-time in the making, collection of early Americana items including several burl items in miniature and full size such as several burl bowls and scoops, early iron 17-19th century lighting including rare specimens, early baskets, painted boxes, pantry boxes, firkins & miniature Shaker buckets / pails, stoneware, pease ware, along with many early items we have never seen before and are unable to identify or acknowledge what they were used for. This is a high-end collection of rare and early items seldom found outside museums and private collections. Additionally, early 19th century toys to include a fabulous Noah's ark pull toy with stick leg, carved animals, tin penny toys, teddy bears, large collection of Christmas and Halloween, Native American Indian including Woodland Indian carved scoops / ladles and coiled a basket, several 19th to early 20th century quilts.
