Thermolumineszenz-Altersbestimmung: 350 Jahre (+/- 20 %).

Part of the agreement (2001) between the "National Commission of Museum and Monuments" (Nigeria) and René David, in which the Federal Republic of Nigeria acknowledge the object as the property of Galerie Walu, and as tradable artwork.

An age dating by means of graded alloy and patina analysis (micro-element analysis by means of atomic emission spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy by the Research and Technologies Laboratory Aventis) confirms the naturally grown surface corrosion and the dating of the object to the 17th century.

Representation of Olokun, the fish-legged sea and water god, god of fertility and wealth. Both the two predatory catfish and the two crocodiles underline his power over the seas and waters.

According to common understanding, the portrayed person could also be the paraplegic Oba Ohen, who ruled in the early 14th century and who according to myth was the son of Olokun.

Teil der Vereinbarung (2001) zwischen der "National Commission of Museum and Monuments" (Nigeria) und René David, in der die Bundesrepublik Nigeria das Objekt als Eigentum der Galerie Walu und als handelbares Gut anerkennt.

Eine Alterszuordnung mittels abgestufter Legierungs- und Patina-Analyse (Mikroelemtanalyse mittels Atomemissionsspektrometrie und Rasterelektronenmikroskopie durch das Research und Technologies Laboratorium Aventis) bestätigt die natürlich gewachsene Oberflächen-Korrosion und die Datierung des Objektes in das 17. Jh.

Darstellung von Olokun, dem fischbeinigen See- und Wassergott, Gott der Fruchtbarkeit und des Reichtums. Sowohl die zwei Raubwelse als auch die zwei Krokodile unterstreichen seine Macht über die Meere und Gewässer.

Laut gängiger Auffassung könnte es sich bei dem Dargestellten auch um den Querschnittgelähmten Oba Ohen handeln, der im frühen 14. Jh. regierte und der dem Mythos zufolge Sohn des Olokun war.
