Vintage Jewelry: Vintage 12-14kt Rose gold rectangular cameo Ring. The ring is a size 4 and weighs 2.66 grams. The cameo is 11mm by 8mm. I am not sure if it is carved from agate - it is held in by four wide bezel/prong settings and is secure. There is some damage to the ring which you can see under magnification - there is some chipping. The woman depicted has upswept hair and is wearing a necklace and dress with open neck - a tiny little nose. The width of the band is 4.5 mm at the top and tapers down to 3.5 at the back. You can see a mark or two on the inside of the and where it was previously tested for gold content. I test but not on the piece, and it tested strong as 10kt and a little more mild at 14kt so I am estimating this to be between 12kt and 14kt. The ring could use a good cleaning by someone who has the right tools and knowledge to properly clean it. This is a nice piece though - it definitely would have an interesting history - it is roughly 100 years old and was worn a lot as some of the design is worn but that just means at the turn-of-the-century this was out and about in a different world as we know it to be today. It is priced taking the wear into consideration but it still has a nice life if someone is into truly old pieces with history.
