Vintage Silver Articulated Fish Powder Flask/Pendant, 4.5", appx. 1890. Weight is 17.90 grams. At it's widest point toward the head it is appx. 3/4" across. This has a coiled screw at the mouth which open and powder/spices could be put into the fish to be stored and/or carried. A chain can be slid through the loop on the top to be worn as a necklace. I found only one that matches this one with coiled top and that is one that is identical in design but is slightly larger and is handled by Roger Bradbury Antiques, I believe out of the UK. it is selling for over $450.00. This has two raised bezels for the eyes and a pear-shaped bezel between. each of these bezels should have a cabochon. I can add turquoise colored glass for the eyes and an opal between if desired although those stones will not be true vintage and it may be best to leave it as is. That will be up to the buyer. This is in Good condition - there is typical patina and a dent -but not extreme - on the top of he right side of the fish as you look toward the head. Certainly not unexpected given it's nearly 130 years of age. I got the information on this piece from the dealer listed above. The silver could be more like 800 to 900 silver and not true sterling but it does test as silver content and it is not magnetic when tested with a rare earth magnet. This is a rare and unusual piece.
