Description

Title: Unusual Folk Art Fire Truck Quilt

Provenance: This is a folky fire truck quilt. It has machine appliqued fire trucks and Dalmatian dogs in fire hats. In each corner is a fire hydrant spraying water. The borders are pieced, and the quilt is hand quilted in a cross-hatch pattern. The back is the same light blue fabric as the background of the front. It is 83" long by 67" wide, from the second half of the 20th century. The condition is good, somewhat soft from washing, with light surface soiling and slight wear along the top edge. There are four small, faint spots, the largest about 1/2" long.
