Description

Two 19th Century English Pottery Ironstone Platters, Doulton and Spode. Doulton Japanesque well-and-tree, transfer-printed in brown and gold; and Spode ironstone Chinoiserie platter transfer-printed and over-painted in polychrome enamels with a version of "Indian Tree" pattern. Doulton platter impressed with 'Doulton Burslem gear mark / II / I=84', Spode platter with black 'Spode in square / Stone-China' mark. Fourth quarter 19th century. {Approximate dimensions: Doulton platter 2 3/4 high x 22 wide x 17 3/4 inches deep, Spode platter 1 5/8 high x 21 wide x 16 1/4 inches deep}. Condition: Crazing to the Doulton platter, minor surface wear to both pieces.
