Description
This is an interesting metal wall sculpture by Murat Brierre, an artist who was one of Haiti's principal metal sculptors. He was born in Port-Au-Prince and first worked as a builder, cabinetmaker, and blacksmith before he turned to painting and metal sculpture. His works reflected both Christian and Haitian Vodou themes, also known as Voodoo; Voodoo was a religion based on spirits that govern the Earth. The figure appears to be an angel with wings and the silhouette has an impressed signature on one hip. The overall size is 25 7/8 in. high and 8 1/4 in. wide.
