A RARE PAIR OF 25-BORE FRENCH FLINTLOCK OFFICER'S PISTOLS BY BOUTET CAPTURED BY CAPTAIN FRANCIS STANFELL OF HMS SCORPION FROM CAPTAIN LOUIS JOSEPH GUINIAN OF THE FRENCH SHIP LA GLANEUSE ON NOVEMBER 21ST 1807, 8.5inch heavy octagonal brass barrels engraved Boutet Directeur artiste on the top flats, each of the right hand flats engraved with the details and dates of the pistols capture. The first pistol: Taken by Capt. Frances Stanfell of HMS Scorpion. On Nov 21st 1897. The second pistol: Taken from Capt. Louis Joseph Guinian. Of the French ship La Glaneuse. On Nov 21st 1807, border engraved stepped and signed locks, full stocks with brass mounts, brass-capped wooden ramrods.
