Description
A Chinese famille rose porcelain plate dating to the early 19th century. The plate depicts a farm scene with 7 figures, and includes 2 inscriptions, each with 3 seals. The bottom of the plate has a 6-character mark, and the exterior features 4 bats.
Dimensions are: 1 in. tall X 7 in. diameter.
Condition: The rim has 2 chips and 3 hairline cracks.
Provenance: From the estate of Frederick C. McMillen. Mr. McMillen was sent to China by the US government after WWII to oversee rebuilding projects funded by UN grants. He worked closely with top Chinese Nationalist government officers in banking and finance sectors.
