Description
Metal board found in KL Gross-Rosen area, used in the electrified fence that surrounded the camp. It says in German: "Das Berühren der Drähte, auch etwa herabhängender, ist lebengefährlich" that could be translated into English as "Touching the wires, including those that hang down, is life-threatening". Panels like this were hanging on posts and electrified wire of lagers, so that nobody from the vicinity would dare to cross the perimeter. KL Gross Rosen was also a gas-chamber-provided concentration camp where Jews were gassed. The overall condition of this panel is really good (still preserves the main part of the red, black and white colours), as it was preserved in the attic of a house that belonged to the camp complex and that now is a private house. It was recovered some years ago in Poland. We can see panels like this in few museums around the world!
