CAMERON VERNEY LOVETT: (1844-1894) English Traveller in Central Africa, the first European to cross equatorial Africa from sea to sea, 1875. The Royal Geographical Society placed Cameron in command of an expedition to assist David Livingstone in 1873. A brief A.L.S., V. Lovett Cameron, one page, 8vo, Shoreham, Sevenoaks, 1st September n.y., to a gentleman. Cameron writes, in full, 'I have much pleasure in complying with your request for an autograph'. Some very light smudging to the conclusion of the signature and with some light foxing and a brief printed biography neatly affixed to the verso. G £100-150
