Harriet Beecher Stowe. Uncle Tom's Cabin. Boston: Jewett, 1852. Two volumes, 8vo, both have "Thirtieth Thousand" stated on the title. Some occasional foxing but texts generally clean. Professionally recased, with new endpapers, spine ends restored. The 1st printing of this landmark anti-slavery book sold out quickly. A second printing of 10,000 copies followed suit, and this third printing of 50,000 copies sold out in 8 weeks. On meeting Stowe, Lincoln reputedly said "So this is the little lady who started this great war." Condition: Very Good
