Description
Two (2x) old embossed uniform buttons of the Israeli Army/IDF, circa. 1948-early 1950's, not maker-marked. Both bear the emblem of the IDF - a sword intertwined with an olive branch (the emblem of the pre-State "Hagana" militia). The larger bronze-colored button was worn on overcoats while the smaller blackened button with dotted field was probably worn on British-styled battle dress tunics. These are rare as they pre-date the maker-marked buttons produced by the "Kaftorim" firm (normally stamped on a flattened back).
