Description
This is a rare pair of Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima idols, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of flat pottery figures, both decorated with applied strips of pottery, in the form of standing nude man and women with scarification marks on their shoulders. Both have emphasized genitalia and stand in almost identical poses, with their arms out to their sides. They also both have necklaces and headdresses as their only ornamentation. The largest measures 8.75 inches tall on its base ( Sculpture itself measures 7.5 inches) Provenance: The Dr Brian Healy Estate, New York.
