This is a lot of 2 coins from the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center Commemorative Coin Program. One is a 90% silver Proof Dollar and 3/4oz. and the other is a Proof Clad Half Dollar. The Silver Dollar shows the Old Capitol building in 1800 with the new Capitol in the background, on the obverse. On the reverse it shows a contemporary interpretation of the U.S. Double Eagle. While the clad Half Dollar shows 50 stars enclose the current Capitol dome profile with the 1800 portion detailed. A horse and carriage is shown in the foreground. On the Reverse there are 16 stars around the center with the inscription "1800 6th Congress, 32 Senators" and "House 106 Members". Bothe have been encased by the United States Mint and come with their own individual Certificate of Authenticity. The Silver dollar is housed in an attractive velvet case and the Half Dollar os in a plastic holder.
