FDR, While President, Signs a Prize Copy of "Green Mansions" as an Alumni of the Groton Prep School to the Winner of the Debate Team
Green Mansions", London: Duckworth & Co, 1931. Later printing with illustrations. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Stunningly rebound in green leather boards with a brown leather spine with raised bands and elaborate gilt stamped décor, 5" x 8.5". Housed in both a slip case of marbleized paper boards, and with a custom green cloth clamshell with a quarter leather spine, raised bands and gilt titles. A fresh, clean book with a one-of-a-kind rebind, and an exceptional inscription by FDR, who presented this copy to the winner of the Junior Debating team at the Groton School in 1937. Roosevelt was an alumni of Groton college preparatory school, and was President at the time he inscribed this copy. "Kirkham Cornwall, Junior Debating Prize, Groton School 1937, Franklin D Roosevelt".
