Description
3.75x6-5/8" original matte photo depicting four players in full uniform along with a gentleman dressed in formal attire posing on the ballfield. Identifications for each player have been handwritten on the front of the photo next to their respective images, from left to right: Carlos Blanco, Ramon Heredia, unidentified, Mata Torres & Heberto Blanco. The Monterrey ball club was established in 1939 and they won their first Mexican League championship in 1943, followed by a couple of more league titles by the end of the decade. The most notable alumnus from this ball club was future MLB Hall of Famer, Roy Campanella, who spent the first half of his career playing in the Negro Leagues and the second half playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers (NL) club. Quality of this image is outstanding, one pinhole is present near the right border along with a bit of emulsion along the bottom, front edge. Back of photo exhibits remnants of scrapbook removal long ago. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
