The painter, lithographer and university teacher Willi Nowak was born 1886 in MnÃek in the Czech Republic. He completed art studies in Prague, Munich and the Netherlands and worked as a lithographer and painter, who was especially known for his figure, portrait and landscape paintings. In addition, he was professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and a founding member of the Prague Secession. In 1907 he joined the well-known Expressionist artist group The Eight, which was inspired by the expressivity of Edvard Munch.
