Ghetto Uniejow - Very touching correspondence writen by a Jewish boy and sent to his uncle and aunt in the USA - 1940. Very touching correspondence of a young Jewish boy around 12-14 years old (it's just a guess after the pattern of the letter and simple sentences that he composes) who writes for help. The letter was sent from the ghetto in Uniejów in 1940 when the Germans were still allowing correspondence with the outside world. We could not find anything about the child named F.Waldman and can certainly be regarded as one of the perished victims of the holocaust. Very good condition. During World War II in September 1939, German troops occupied Uniejów. In 1940, the Germans created a ghetto here, inseting about 130 families within it's walls. According to one version, as early as October 1940, the Jewish inhabitants of Uniejów were transferred to the Turku ghetto. This ghetto, in turn, existed until October 20, 1941, and then its prisoners were sent to the ghetto in Kowaly Pańskie and then to the German Nazi extermination camp in Chełmno nad Nerem. According to the authors of The Encyclopedia of Jewish Life Before and During the Holocaust, Jews from Uniejów were sent directly to Kowal Pańskie on October 20, 1941, and then murdered on July 20, 1942.
