About Verdura:
Jeweler to the stars, royalty and society's elite for over three decades, the creations of Duke Fulco di Verdura (1898-1978) continue to be prized to this day for their stunning artistry and vibrant colors.
Verdura began his career working in collaboration with Coco Chanel in the 1920s, first as a textile designer and later designer for her jewelry collections. After parting ways with Chanel, Verdura began to develop his own signature style using brightly colored gemstones in flamboyant, whimsical designs taking inspiration from nature and his European background, his Maltese cross collections becoming especially popular. He also took inspiration from his love of the ocean, making designs such as jewel encrusted seashells. Iconic Verdura designs include the wrapped and bowed heart, animal brooches using diamonds, enamel and baroque pearls, gold "rope' bracelets and necklaces, shell brooches and earrings encrusted with diamonds and gemstones, diamond winged gemstone brooches and of course the Maltese cross encrusted with gemstones.
Verdura jewelry has been worn by some of the most iconic women of the past century such as Greta Garbo, Katherine Hepburn, Joan Crawford and Princess Diana.
