Central / Western Asia, Bactrian Empire, ca. 1st millennium BCE. An attractive and wearable necklace composed of beads shaped from various stone types in hues of emerald green, cobalt blue, magenta, wheat, sage, and cream. Four of the larger spacer beads are formed from creamy yellow alabaster - two triangular and two ovoid - with three carved rock crystal spacer beads, one near the top and two just above the central pendant. The pendant is also carved from translucent rock crystal and is suspended from biconically-drilled holes near the upper tip of its conical body. Each bead is pierced from top to bottom and strung on a modern string capped with a gold-filled loop and lobster clasp. Size (necklace): 41" L (104.1 cm); size (largest bead): 1" H (2.5 cm).
