Chinese Zitan altar table, constructed with a single-panel top set within the wide rectangular frame with beaded edge above carved aprons and open-works carved ruyi motif spandrels, the whole supported on four shaped legs of rounded section, joined by pairs of stretchers; spreading wider to the foot. The Zitan wood display smooth and lustrous dense hardwood with dark purple-brown patina and feathery fine grain.
