Constantine Kluge (France/Russian Federation, 1912 - 2003) 26" H x 36" W oil on canvas of Place de La Sorbonne, signed lower left, "C. Kluge." Constantine was born in Russia. His family immigrated to Manchuria. In 1922 his family boarded an Art Teacher who encouraged him to draw. In 1931 Kluge went to Paris to attend the Ecole des Beaux Arts to study architecture. In 1937 he graduated and before returning to China, he spent a year painting in Paris. In 1938 he returned to china. In 1950 Kluge returned to Paris where he decided to paint full time. An art dealer suggested that Kluge paint well known sites of Paris that tourists were familiar with, and that became a big success. Later London and American art dealers would buy large lots of art from Kluge and sell them throughout London, Chicago, New York, Beverly Hills and Miami. In 1990 he was awarded the extremely prestigious French Legion of Honor. Frame 39" H x 50" W. Good condition.
