This lot consists of an acrylic painting on unstretched canvas, done in the bold, modernist style of Pacita Abad (Filipino, 1946-2004). A small, hand-painted inscription in the lower right quadrant of this piece reads simply, "Pacita". A lively and dynamic piece, this vibrant painting churns with shape and color. Absolutely full of life. The artist has achieved impressive texture and depth, all while unifying the entire composition with carefully executed spirals. A gorgeous addition to any collection. This unframed piece measures approximately 32" x 41".

Pacita Abad (Filipino, 1946-2004) was a visual artist whose career began when she traveled to the United States for her graduate studies. Abad, a student of political science, received formal artistic training at Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and at the Art Students League of New York. Abad's earliest work included figural, natural, and floral subject matter, but it was her oeuvre of colorful abstract work that solidified Abad's international renown. During her lifetime, Pacita Abad exhibited in over 200 museums, galleries, and other venues, including some 75 solo shows. Abad's work is now housed in over 70 countries, in collections both public and private. Even posthumously, Pacita Abad remains a driving and vital force in the international art world.
