Adams was mathematical instrument maker to George III and author of many elementary works on science. The instruments depicted in the plates are representative of those offered by the Adams firm. Subjects include Astronomy, optics, magnetism, etc. All five volumes bear the book plate of Joshua Rowley - likely the son of Sir William Rowley, 2nd Baronet, an english member of parliament and High Sheriff.

Condition

Some cracked or loose hinges, wear to boards and rubbing to sunned spines and corners of boards; intermittent marginal foxing smudging, some creasing, foxing, and small stub tears to foldout plates; volumes very good to near fine.
