A PERSIAN HAND WOVEN BIJAR WOOL RUG, CIRCA 1950-1960, the wine red ground with all over Herati design in medium blue, yellow, rose, raspberry, seafoam green, apple green, dark blue, brown, ivory, and gold/orange, with a shaped medallion at the center on dark blue ground with large scale floral blossoms outlined in ivory centering a large radiating rosette on faded raspberry ground, matching dark blue ground corner blocks, the main border with large scale Herati floral and vine pattern on ivory ground banded by zigzag floral blossom and vine strips on dark blue, overall thick pile, wool and cotton foundation, approximate 154 kpsi. Height: 97.00" Width: 61.50"
Condition
In overall good stable condition, with overall fading and bleeding of dyes (originally a very bright rug); thick pile with minimal wear; areas of prior restoration, particularly at center medallion; side guards original with some wear; small areas of moth damage.
