Description
Mid 19th century, 157 x 107 cm, East Caucasus, Kuba region

This white-ground Zeikhur presents a Khyrdagyd repeat in light pastel shades and three narrow borders that are typical of the provenance. Its proportions and the style of its field design, with comparatively large devices spaced more widely than in later examples, indicate an early date around 1850-1870. – Original finishes all around, including the warps tied off into nets at both ends and the light blue selvedges. Slight signs of wear in the pile, a number of short tears at both ends, sides in need of repair.
