Mid 19th century, 133 x 80 cm, South West Anatolia, Mugla province

Three geometric, abstract trees rooted in a bowl stand in a midnight blue shield form outlined in yellow which takes up most of the brown field. Their angled branches bear star-shaped blossoms. This pretty woven picture is framed to good effect by a yellow inner border of serrated leaves and blossoms and an outer white-ground border of slanting carnations. – Slight signs of wear, good overall condition, original finishes all around.
