Commonplace book, manuscript in English, brown ink on laid, 4to, vellum over boards. 77 numbered pages and 36 unnumbered leaves, containing quite a variety of material which mostly appears to be copies of interesting articles, accounts of travels, Christian commentary, some drawings, and even some anecdotes. Covers worn, toned and chipped, contents generally clean, some worming to least few leaves, as-is. ********************** Includes MS copy of an article taken from an American paper, dealing with "Indian Chiefs." Also contains recipes. We find little indication as to who kept this book, only that he was likely British and almost certainly Protestant: "A Catholic asked a protestant where his religion was before Luther? who replied, my religion was then where it is now, and where yours never was, viz., in the bible."
