Very Good. **************** Scarce. Meagher was a leader of the Young Irelanders in the Rebellion of 1848. He was convicted of sedition and taken to Tasmania. He escaped in 1852 and made is way to the United States where he joined the US army, rose to the rank of brigadier general, and commanded the famous Irish Brigade in the Civil War. Eventually he would serve as Montana's Territorial Secretary of State.
