This composition doll is 15” tall with flirty sleep eyes and a brunette human hair wig in braids. She was made by Ideal and is either Ginger or Pigtail Sally, from the late 1930s or early 1940s. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. She is marked U.S.A. 16 on her back. The mark on her head is too faint to make out. She wears what may be her original outfit, a cotton dress printed with stripes and sprigs of flowers, with attached panty. Over the dress she wears an organdy pinafore. A hard to find Ideal compo girl, worth fixing up!

Ginger/Sally has a crack below her right eye and across her neck, with a large crack across her torso (it doesn’t go all the way through). There is crazing on her face and torso, and light crazing on her limbs. Her irises are shattered as is typical for dolls of this era, but her eyelashes are all there. Her wig needs taming and she could use overall cleaning. I left her stringing a little loose to enable her to tilt her head and “flirt.”
