Description
This German china lady doll dates to the 1860s and has a wonderful face with molded upper and lower eyelids. She has a paper label on the back of her shoulder plate that tells she is “From the Bazar of Fancy – White, Child & Co., No. 10 North Fifth St., St. Louis.” She measures about 21” tall (54 cm) and has a cloth body with leather forearms that have individual fingers. Her outfit is taffeta, silk, lace and velvet, with antique cotton underthings. She has nice red leather shoes as well. A lady with some issues, but amazing history as well.
Condition
She has damage to her shoulder plate. Her face and head are not damaged. Her leather forearms have become detached from her cloth upper arms – the lace sleeves are holding them in place. The rest of her body is sturdy. The silk parts of her dress have deteriorated.
