Description
3rd-4th century AD. A pale amber-coloured iridescent glass chalice with flared foot, squat body, everted rim with applied trail arches forming a gallery to the shoulder. Cf. Whitehouse, D. Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, vol.2, New York, 2001, item 867 for similar technique. 162 grams, 95mm (3 3/4"). From a private European collection; formerly in a German collection formed before 2000.
