Description
1st-2nd century AD. A substantial bronze door fitting formed as a disc with beaded border, high-relief lion-mask with three holes to the mouth, three fixing holes to the plate and band of ring-and-dot motifs. 243 grams, 87mm (3 1/4"). Property of a Belgian gentleman; formerly the property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s.
