Description
A four inch pile of over 50 folios and sheet music from the monsters of Boogie Woogie music. A very young Earl Hines, Jay McShann, the Andrews Sisters, Pine Top Smith, Meade "Lux" Lewis and Hazel Scott are all represented. "Choo Choo Cha-boogie," "St. Louis Blues Boogie," and other standards included. The heyday of boogie was the 1930s-1950s, but its roots go back to the 1880s, and its lasting effects are present in rock and roll forever. Slow boogie woogie was played in New Orleans and St. Louis, but as it migrated through Texas, it became faster, or "Western" and country music absorbed what had been a black invention. The Big Bands played boogies in the 1940s. It's a twelve bar blues with a dancing left hand that causes the normal human being to dance. City: State: Date:
