Description
BOTH: cal. 32 RF. Bbl. both 6" oct. w/ rib & semicircular front sights. Tip up style SA revolvers w/ spur trigger & 6 shot rnd. cyls. 2 Piece rose wood grips. Both have aftermarket 50% coverage of foliate scroll engraving featuring wolf heads on both sides of bbl. flats. Revolvers below 35,731 were produced during the Civil War prior to May 1, 1865. 1) S# 20652. Back strap has inscription that appears to be added later "Presented to Gen. M. D. Hardin / by officers of the 22nd Corps 1864". CONDITION: metal has brown / gray appearance from touch up finish blending w/ original blue & spots of very light pitting. Grips have lightly worn finish showing scratches & sm. dents. Action shows some looseness at hinge. Dark pitted bore. (01-16451/DS). 2) S# 20357. Backstrap has inscription that may have been added later "Gen. M. D. Hardin". CONDITION: metal has mottled gray / brown appearance from touch up finish over some original blue & shows scattered light pitting. Right grip panel has lightly worn finish showing dents & handling marks w/ chip at heel. Non matching left grip panel is sanded & refinish showing wear, handling marks & sm. chip at heel. Action very loose at hinge. Dark pitted bore. (01-16452/DS). BOTH ANTIQUE. $1,200-2,000.
