Dimensions: 11" H x 7" Dia.
A very fine Chinese porcelain begonia vase. Potted in an ovoid lower body, tapered gracefully toward straight tall neck leading to a slightly incurved flori-form petal shaped rim, raised on a splayed foot base. The exterior decorated in highly complicated pictorial compositions of colorful famille rose detail painting, depicted scholars gathering against fenced garden landscape scene, enclosed within gilt over glaze fine ring cartouche. The neck with birds amidst flowering tree within ruyi shaped cartouches. All sets over Hundred cranes motif diaper, the subtle blue underglaze scrolling clouds and flying cranes motif over clean white underglaze ground. Banded with interlocking ruyi pattern on the rim, and numerous auspicious ribbons around neck and shoulders. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. The composition is sophisticated and the decoration colors are simply a feast for the eye.
Mark on base, a six underglaze blue seal script -ZhuanShu- characters reign mark, Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing.
