VERY RARE, FINEST PAIR, Chinese high valued Zitan hardwood Dragon carved cabinets for storing Imperial trinkets. Each cabinet is of rectangular form and square constructed from panels of Zitan hardwood, very Thick, sturdy and heavy. With features three drawers and seven doored compartments with Ten toed of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a dark brown color dragon squama rounded the cabinet to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames, and each door in different motief carved of the imperial dragons. The upper section with open staggered shelves, the middle section with pair door to the left and center opener, the lower section fronted by a pair of hinged doors to the right side carved with prunus in relief, with two drawers, and the bottom cabinet carved with huge drawer as wide the cabinet. The apron carved with lotus petals and raised on two prominent incurved feet. These pair Zitan display cabinets are adorned with fine gilt metal lines inlaid on each gallery frames. Shows lustrous gilt with very fine feathery grain. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The dragon is also the most important of the four super natural creatures in Chinese mythology, ranked with the Phoenix, the Qilin, and the Tortoise. The dragon is also the symbol of the month March, of Spring and of rebirth and fertility for it brings the rain bearing clouds of spring. When shown with the heavenly pearl, sometimes ball, it represents thunder and the storm. Emblem of vigilance and safety, and frequently associated with the idea of joy. And the Zitan is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages. The entirety is encased in amazing relief carving which gives this box a captivating appearance. The Zitan cabinet decorating has been done with impressive fluency and detail. As sacrificial sets are considered quite rare. Excellent craftsmanship is evident in the fine details, giving this piece an unforgettable appearance.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition, with normal anomalies in nature, natural wood imperfection, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent; Normal consider ages and wears.
