Chinese WangBu, porcelain painting plaque of Damo. Framed porcelain painting plaques. Chinese porcelain paintings, in vertical rectangular shaped plaques. Hand painted Damo and children in a yellow silk among path of rockwork below vapor and clouds. Calligraphy Chinese lettering inscriptions poems, followed with artist's signature and iron-red seals on the upper left side.
Bodhidharma was a Buddhist monk who lived during the 5th or 6th century. He is traditionally credited as the transmitter of Chan Buddhism to China, and regarded as its first Chinese patriarch. According to Chinese legend, he also began the physical training of the monks of Shaolin Monastery that led to the creation of Shaolin Kungfu. known as Damo in China. Doucai decoration the design is outlined in underglaze blue and filled in with overglaze colored enamels except blue. Colors which fit together but also contrasting or joined colors. Decoration in a combination vivid tones color of underglaze cobalt blue outlines and enamels added on top of the fired glaze, within the outlines. Elegancy come with wide hardwood framed and brass loop mounting. The Elaborately carved Zitan hardwood frame perfectly accentuates this work of art. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye.
