James Matthews (British, 19th century) watercolor and gouache on paper painting titled "English Countryside" depicting a farm house in a pastoral autumn setting, a mother and her daughter feeding chickens in a country road before the house. Signed lower left. Paper label reading "For Olive" en verso. Housed under glass in a gilt wood frame with a gilt wood rabbet edge. Sight - 8" H x 13 7/8" W. Framed - 14" H x 19 3/4" W. Note: This painting was included on a receipt from Wiscasset Bay Gallery, Wiscasset, Maine, dated November 3, 2000, available to the winning bidder.

Condition

Overall good condition. Not examined outside of frame. Areas of loss to gilt on frame, areas of mold/moisture damage, 1" hairline, to rabbet edge.
